Comenius – A trip to Romania
From the 11th March until the 16th Mach 3 students and 2 teachers from our school visited Brâila. This city is located near the bottom of the river Danube. We arrived on Tuesday at approximately 1pm and took the bus to our first stop. We then went to the mountains with students from other countries. We were extremely close to the Dracula castle.
This castle was the first thing we saw on Wednesday. It was beautiful and also exciting. After our visit to Dracula’s Castle we travelled with the bus to Sinaia, where we were shown the Peles Castle. We then drove back to Brâila where our host students were waiting for us.
On Thursday we all met at the city library. There, we were warmly welcomed and put forward our respective presentations on the topics “Folk Music and Dance” and “Local Traditions and Customs”. After the presentations we made our way to the school. We had our first workshop there on the subject “SMARTER (Social Media Academy: Raise Teen Employability Resources)”. This workshop was only for the students because the teachers had a different activity in the afternoon. In the evening we all met at the shopping centre of Brâila.
On Friday we went to the school to host Comenius Day. Even with some minor difficulties this day was still very good. The teachers then had a small conference from 3:30pm until 4:30pm on the topic “The impact of international projects and exchanges.”
We spent Saturday and Sunday in Bucharest. We had a city tour, visited the Parliament and had the opportunity to take many photos. In the late afternoon we all went shopping. However, we then had to say our fist goodbye to some participants because they had to fly back this evening. Tears were flowing and everyone was sad that this time was already over.
It was an exciting and education week for us all. We found new friends and also discovered a new culture.
