Every year our history course goes on a trip to a memorial place that reminds on
the atrocities of the Nazis in the so called Third Reich. Last school year 24 pupils
together with their teachers Mrs.Schwiefert, Mr. Breitenstein, and social worker
Jennifer Minkner were in Krakau. The project is directed against right-wing violence
and wants to make a contribution to the memorial culture.
The aim of the study trip was examination of the human rights violation during the
time of the National Socialism at historical meaningful places.
We visited the old Jewish cemetery, the Remuh synagogue, the Jewish ghetto of Krakau,
the Adler Pharmacy and the newly designed museum of the former Oskar Schindler Factory
for enamelware. In the memorial of Auschwitz-Birkenau we were informed about the
cruelties of the National Socialist regime.
We can’t eliminate the suffering of that time but we can take care that things like
that don’t happen any more.
The project was supported by the institution of political education of Saxony Anhalt.
